Scope & Target Group

The Block Course “Materials, Functioning and Technology of Batteries” covers the full spectrum of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, from theory to engineering and from fundamentals to applications. The Block Course will be held in two parts of one week each.

For the first time, the Block Course of the GS-EES is open to all interested PhD, master students and post-docs, no matter at which institution they are enrolled.

Venues

Part 1 of the Block Course will take place at Ulm University.

Part 2 of the Block Course will take place at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Campus South.

Directions

Ulm University
Tram line 2 and bus line 5 both connect the main station with the campus. Travel time is approx. 10 to 20 minutes. Your concrete destination on the approximately 1.5 km long campus determines which of the 5 stops is best for you, and thus your travel time. Both lines serve all stops and run every 10 minutes on workdays; during lecture periods tram line 2 even runs every 3-5 minutes during peak hours. The closest stop is “Universität Süd”. Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
The university campus can be readily reached on foot or by tram. The Block Course will be held at Campus South. A campus plan can be found here: https://www.kit.edu/campusplan/ (searchable by building and faculty).
