On 19 March, the Roadmap workshop, hosted by Work Package Leader 2 (KIT/CELEST), brought together all 17 projects under the Battery 2030+ initiative, along with members of the CSA3. The primary objective of the workshop was to:
- Provide updates from each project on their current progress, comparing it to the information shared at the Oslo workshop in 2024.
- Identify the structure and content for the upcoming/revised Roadmap.
- Reaffirm the writing groups for different chapters and topics, as identified in Oslo in June 2024.

Project representatives were asked to share their opinions on the type of Roadmap they would prefer—whether it should be a revision of Roadmap 1.3 or a completely new version, 2.0. Participants also discussed emerging research directions and identified new, key topics for the revised Roadmap.
The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from Patrik Johansson, the new Project Director of Battery 2030+, and Max Fichtner, WP2 Leader, who introduced a revised structure for the Roadmap. Wouter Ijzermans, Executive Director of BEPA within the @BATT4EU partnership, also shared significant updates on the latest developments at the EU level, particularly regarding Horizon Europe’s upcoming work programme.
The event included three breakout sessions, focusing on New Chemistries, Battery Functionalities, and Data/Standards/Ontology. Special thanks to the moderators: Montse Casas Cabanas, Burak Dermenci, and Christian Punckt, for their excellent facilitation.
KIT/CELEST is currently summarizing the insights gathered during the workshop and will share the findings with all consortium members shortly.
