Title: Halide and Oxyhalide Solid Electrolytes for Solid State Batteries

Linda Faye Nazar FRS FRSC OC is the Senior Canada Research Chair in Solid State Energy Materials and University Research Professor of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo, Canada. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society (London), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, an Officer of the Order of Canada, and an Adjoint Professor at the Justus Liebig University in Germany.
Professor Nazar’s research focuses on developing new electrochemical energy storage materials, and on advancing next-generation rechargeable battery research through a combination of materials synthesis, advanced characterization tools; electrochemistry and modelling.
She has co-authored > 310 publications garnering more than 93,000 citations (H index 139; Google Scholar), and 32 patents/patent applications. She was a member of the USA Department of Energy’s Hub, the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research from 2013 – 2023, and part of their Directorate. Prof. Nazar currently sits on the Advisory Council for Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment.
Professor Nazar has received many awards, recently including the Royal Society’s Hughes Medal for outstanding contributions in the field of energy (2024); the Materials Research Society Medal (2020); the Bailar Medal (Univ Illinois Urbana-Champaign, 2019); the prestigious Paul Corkum Killam Foundation Fellowship (2025); the Chemical Society of Canada’s distinctions (the CIC Medal: 2019 and the Steacie Award, 2022) and the International Automotive Lithium Battery award (2017).
